Last week, I finally decided to do some room rearrangement. Moved the wardrobe to other side of the room, the bed from left side to right side, thus leaving enough space for placing my computer and books. I stored my clothes in the wardrobe, instead of keeping it inside to luggage as I did all this time. I therefore can store the luggage at the corner, standing compactly. In consequent, all papers, documents, and books had to be removed out. I also bought plastic boxes for food and small things, but not for the papers and books yet.
Actually, how you arrange your house (or even just a room like me) shows how you arrange your life. If your house is a mess, your life is a mess too. Your daily life condition psychologically affects you. Believe me. What are the signs?
If your house in a mess, do you tend to have bad emotions? Do you feel like something heavy is clinging on you? Put some weight on your shoulder? Those are what I meant. Your not 'free'. It's your heart that isn't free.
In Oprah Show, there was an episode of a house full of unnecessary items, piled and cluttered everywhere, at every corner. Even made the family couldn't easily walk inside the house. What a disaster! I was barely able to imagine how it would be like to live in a home like that. The family was already in a point where they felt they need a huge change in their life. So, Oprah sent an expert to help them take out all those clutter. I forgot how many containers they need to pack all those things, but obviously more than one.
The expert then rearranged the family's house. Open spaces replaces the piles. Everything were neatly and properly placed. The result? They felt much more better. A huge burden had been lifted from their shoulders. Their quality of life had been improved.
After they had their new life, Oprah challenged them to see whether they can maintain the tidiness or not. You know, when piling things has already become a habit, it won't last long until you go back doing the same thing again. So, the next year, Oprah's crew revisited the house. Amazingly, the condition was exactly the same as when the crew left it a year ago. It was still neat and tidy! They said, "We don't want to go back to the old time".
That is exactly what I was doing last week: rearrange my room in order to remove all the unnecessary burden from my shoulder. To free my heart. Since I believe it will affect me emotionally, increase my productivity. So, there won't be any more excuse for me to be lazy. Hopefully.
